British MUSEUM

The first public museum founded in 1753, in lieu of instructing those interested in learning. The museum is dedicated to civilisations through material culture. Some of its highlights include the Rosetta Stone, used to decipher hieroglyphs in the 19th century, the Parthenon Marbles that decorated the temple topping the Acropolis, Roman, Islamic, Greek, Japanese galleries and much more. Tours can be tailored to special interests: i.e. the Enlightenment Gallery, the Egyptian galleries etc.
