beyond LONDON

WHAT TO VISIT?

London as a whole offers so much, it can be mind boggling to decide where to go, what to see, which museums to visit.

There are many ways to explore London. None beats walking it and hopping on the Tube, the London Underground, when convenient. As a keen athlete I would also recommend a cycling tour, which is increasingly becoming popular due to improved road facilities for cyclists. Cycling allows to cover larger areas in less time. Travelling by bus on a double decker is also a great way of appreciating central London with some unique views.

However, many of my guests take the opportunity in visiting sites outside of the capital which are listed below. These I visit regularly but from time to time I’m asked to take guests to other locations in south England such as Hever Castle, Chartwell House, Bampton and Highclere Castle.

Specific tours, walks and options can be found here: Galleries & Museums, Heritage Walks, Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral. Also check calendar below

Oxford City Tour

On the edge of the Cotswolds, the University City of Oxford is England’s most charming towns. A chance to visit one of the college’s Quads, learn about the Reformation, English Civil Wars, the country’s history of higher education and do some punting for the adventurous.

Cotswolds

England’s most picturesque area of outstanding natural beauty. A chance to explore villages stuck in time surrounded by rolling hills, rivers and charming cottages. My favourite sites: Bibury, the Slaughters, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Campden, Broadway, and Winston Churchill’s grave in Bladon.

Stonehenge

5,000 years of history in one of the most famous prehistoric UNESCO World Heritage sites. A Temple aligned to the movement of the sun, its secrets are still being unravelled.

Windsor and its castle

Arguably the most popular town to visit after the capital and just one drive on the motorway from central London. Where the late Queen Elizabeth lived her last 3 years before passing away. One of the largest and longest lived castles in Europe it houses the stunning State Room Apartments and St George’s Chapel, where Royals have been buried since George III in 1820.

BATH

England’s most charming Georgian town, home to the Roman Baths, the Jane Austen Museum, Museum of Fashion through the centuries an stunning architecture.
